In 2023 over 15,000 Dublin procedures were initiated, just under two percent of people were deported in the same year.
There are only two initial reception centers in Croatia, both in or near the capital Zagreb. A total of around 900 people can be accommodated there. This does not even correspond to the number of people who are deported from other European member states to Croatia within the framework of Dublin.
What awaits people in Croatia, how does the asylum system works, what about vulnerable people, medical care, accommodation, access to social benefits and basic services? What challenges await Dublin returnees? These questions and the questions you have brought with you, we want to explore on this evening.
With representatives of two NGOs from Croatia, we want to discuss the situation in Croatia, get to know their perspectives and exchange ideas.
The speakers work for CLC (Croatian Law Center) and "Are you syrious?".
The NGOs offer legal advice and support, lobbying or are active in concrete solidarity practice.
The event will be held in English. There will be German subtitles available. If necessary, we can help people who would like to say something themselves to express their concerns or help with translation.
This evening is organized by the network church asylum Rhineland-Palatinate/ Saarland, the refugee council Rhineland-Palatinate and civi kune RLP.
The event is free of charge.
However, the refugee council Rhineland-Palatinate is dependent on donations to continue it’s work.
